“The power of crowdfunding isn’t in the funding, it’s in the crowd.” – Mari Kuraishi, Co-Founder & President – Global Giving

Last August 1, 2019 , Civil Society Organizations, Non-Profit Organizations and the Academe were invited to take part in Global Giving’s Fundraising Workshop. This was the first time Global Giving was back in the Davao City after four years of its last campaign in the country.

GlobalGiving is the largest global crowd-funding community connecting non-profits, donors, and companies in nearly every country. It helps non-profits access the tools, training, and support they need to be more effective and make our world a better place. Founded by two former World Bank executives who have created a new, higher-impact way for individuals and organizations to direct their philanthropy to their choice of high-quality, trackable projects in the United States and around the world.

GlobalGiving hosts in-person training workshops around the globe every year, helping support and train new and current community of non-profit partners, and anyone else interested in learning. Today, Global Giving gives emphasis in the need for organizations to take on new approaches in fundraising, particularly with the help of the internet and through online platform.

It is a common challenge for small and local organizations on how to gather funds to direct support to their programs and activities in their communities. But through Global Giving’s online platform, it gives new channel and market for organizations to network and connect. How do online fundraising help our causes? Before, when the internet is not yet accessible, organizations are limited to select audience and donors as one of the main challenges in communication was the geographical locations of prospect partners. But with today’s digital age, the internet gives immediate access to not only local and national but with the global audience also. There is an increased visibility, and opportunity for growth.

To help start organizations, Global Giving introduces the GlobaGiving Accelerator that offers the opportunity for organizations to build skills, access tools, and grows the base of their supporters to achieve crowdfunding success. When graduated, successful organizations become a permanent member of GlobalGiving, and they’ll have access to all the tools, training, and one-on-one support available in the GlobalGiving community.

The GlobalGiving Accelerator is a virtual training program and crowdfunding campaign that will help you take your fundraising to the next level. Following a one-week training curriculum, you’ll be entered into an Accelerator campaign where you’ll raise at least $5,000 total from a minimum of 40 different donors in order to graduate and secure a permanent fundraising spot on the GlobalGiving platform (globalgivng.org).

HOW TO JOIN? The steps are simple. You will just have to complete the online application and GlobalGiving will review the application within 30 days. When approved, you will now create a page for your fundraising project. When all set, you then start to fundraise for your program!
