MINCODE Executive Director Ms. Bai Anayatin and MINCODE Project Coordinator Ms. Dolly Pascua, and MINCODE members CBCS, MARADECA and fellow good governance advocates join the G-HUBS Convenors Meeting organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Along with fellow advocates of good governance, MINCODE joins leaders and convenors of regional G-Hubs or Governance Hubs in 16 regions in the Philippines. The Governance Hubs serves as a platform for government agencies, academe, civil society organizations (CSOs), and other development actors who share the common objective of contributing to the achievement of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The G-Hubs also believe that promoting transparent, accountable, participatory and responsive governance would ensure the attainment of the SDGs. In partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), MINCODE implements various good governance initiatives. In the past two years, MINCODE and its member networks and community partners were part of the Citizens Participating in Governance (CPAG) Project wherein citizens served as third party monitors of DepEd’s Computerization Programme. Currently, MINCODE is implementing the Roads2SDG Project in Davao Region. The Roads2SDG Project aims to enable civil society, academic institutions, and government line agencies and provincial local governments to work together in ensuring the integration of SDGs in planning, implementation, and monitoring of roads projects. The Davao Region Governance Hub (G-Hub) is currently composed of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region XI, Ateneo de Davao University, and MINCODE. It is envisioned that more CSOs, academic institutions, and government agencies in Davao Region will become part of the G-Hub. Private sector representatives and basic service providers are also encouraged to be part of the G-Hub. In the next few months, the Davao Region G-Hub will convene a multistakeholder forum to develop our joint vision and strategic plan for the Hub.

“The Roads2SDGs Project started mid-2018 as we realized the need to maximize the power house and power players in the community: CSOs, government, private sector, and academe. We need to work together if we want sustainable development”, says Mr. Jon Gales, Roads2SDG Program Manager of UNDP.

“We appreciate having this opportunity to share our experiences as well as learn from other regions on how the G-HUBS contribute to the promotion of good governance at the regional and provincial levels”, says Ms. Dolly Pascua, MINCODE Project Coordinator in Davao Region.
